Instruction in band is offered in all grades. Band instruction is a yearlong course. Students meet every other day in the band room.
Beginning Band for 6th grade introduces students to the basics of reading music notation and the correct application to musical instruments. The sixth-grade band performs two public concerts per year (Christmas and Spring).
Concert Band for 7th grade continues to develop the student's basic musicality through the performance of progressively difficult music. Students meet as one band class every other day. The seventh-grade band performs four public concerts per year (Fall, Christmas, Festival, and Spring). Some students from this group also participate in the UCMS Jazz Band and District Clinic Band.
The Honor Band is the top-performing band at Union County Middle School and is made up of 7th and 8th students. The audition for this group will occur after the Christmas Concert covering all the techniques covered in first semester. The eight-grade band performs four concerts per year ( Fall, Christmas, Festival, Spring)
